If u have dots next to the no. That means its non-terminating but here the nos. Are terminating thats is the reason why it is a rational number

Valengam Mungvi 3 years, 4 months ago

Rational. Since it is a terminating decimal.

Steps are : Draw a line of 10.5 and mark A and B respectively From B draw a line C of 1 cm Extend the line and name it as x Then take a perpendicular and mark it as D Open the compass and put the metal point at D and pencil point at A and make a semicircle From B make a perpendicular line to a point on semicircle and mark it as E. Open the compass and put metal point at D and pencil point at E and make a arc on the line x. The point obtain is root 10.5

Rational numbers are those numbers which can be expressed in the form p/q where p and q are integers and q is not equal to 0 whereas irrational numbers cannot be expressed in the form p/q where p and q are integers and q is bot equal to 0. Root 2 = 1.4142............... and so on and it is non- terminating and non - recurring which is a property of irrational numbers. Its value is infinite that is never ending and also cannot be written in the form p/q. This proves that root 2 is not a rational number. It is an irrational number.

Vaishnavi N 3 years, 4 months ago

We know that, A rational number can be written in p/q form wre as, an Irrational number cannot be written in p/q form. √2 = 0.41421356 and so on... (Non terminating, Non recurring ) Value of √2 never ends So we cannot write it in p/q form.. Hence, √2 is not a rational number. It is an irrational number.

Multiply those numbers with the opposite signs

Sampriti Das 3 years, 4 months ago

(√2 + √3)(√2 - √3) / (√2 + √3)(√2 - √3) Now just simplify it !!!

I am just telling the steps of making root 2 on a number line. You just make it. Steps are :- 1) Make a line of 1 cm and name the line AB. 2) Make angle B = 90 degree. 3) Open the compass on the scale and measure 1 cm. Then, cut an arc from point B and name the point as C. 4) Join the line from point C to point A. 5) AC = Root 2 6) Extend the line. 7) Now measure the length of AC and put the compass on A and make a dotted line on the line AB. Now I will tell you how AC is root 2 we had calculated. By Pythagoras theorem (Hypotenuse) square = (Base) square + (Perpendicular) square ( AC) square =(AB) square + (BC) square ( AC) square = (1) square + (1) square ( AC) square =1 + 1 ( AC) square = 2 AC = Root 2 Thank you.
