The narrator of the story, Jerome, was proud of his packing skills. He was supposed to go on a trip with his friends George and Harris. He told them to leave the whole matter of packing to himself, to which they readily agreed. George sat on the easy chair and Harris cocked his legs on the table and watched Jerome do the packing. But this wasn’t what Jerome wanted. When he said that he wanted to do all the packing himself, what he meant was that he was willing to be in charge of everything and direct his friends to work efficiently under his supervision. He was really pissed at them for just sitting about watching him work. It was uncomfortable for Jerome to just sit idle and see another person work alone. His energetic nature made him want to get up and superintend.

When Jerome packed the bag, Harris pointed out that Jerome had forgotten to pack the boots. So, he had to open the bag again and pack his boots in and just he was going to close it, he doubted if he had packed his toothbrush. Whenever he would be about to travel, he would get nightmares of forgetting to pack his toothbrush. Then he would wake up and go on to hunt for it. Then, in the morning, he would pack it before he used it and then he had to unpack again to get it and would repack, forgetting to put the toothbrush in again. Then, he had to rush upstairs to fetch it. He always ends up carrying the toothbrush wrapped up in his pocket-handkerchief.

As usual, Jerome had to search the whole bag. He found George’s and Harris’s toothbrushes eighteen times over but he couldn’t find his own toothbrush. At last, he found it inside a boot and he had to repack once more. After he was done, George asked him if the soap was in but Jerome was so exhausted that he just didn’t seem to care. But after he strapped the bag again, he noticed that he had packed his spectacles inside and he had to open the bag again. Finally, he finished packing at 10:05 pm and now George and Harris decided to pack the food hampers.

<a id="question-answers2" name="question-answers"></a>

George and Harris started by showing that they were better than Jerome at packing. Jerome was excited to see how they would proceed. As he anticipated, they started with breaking a cup. Then, Harris accidentally squashed a tomato by placing strawberry jam on top of it and then he had to pick out the tomato with a teaspoon. Moreover, George stepped on the butter. Now it was Jerome’s turn to sit back and watch them which irritated them. They stepped on things, put things behind them, and then they were unable to find them when they needed them. They put the pie at the bottom and put heavy things on top of it, which ended up ruining the pies. They poured salt all over the place and did wonders with the butter.

George got the butter stuck to his slippers. After he got it off his slippers, they attempted to put it in the kettle but it wouldn’t go in. Then they put it down on a chair but Harris sat on it and the butter stuck to his back. Then they went around looking for it. After a lot of searching, George discovered that it was at the back of Harris the whole time and finally they packed it in the teapot.

And then their pet dog, Montmorency, came into the scene only to add to the commotion. Montmorency was a naughty dog whose aim in life was to create hurdles and get scolded. It was only when he was screamed at that he felt that his day had not been wasted. So, just when things were ready to be packed, he came into the room and sat on them. Whenever Harris or George extended their hand for anything, Montmorency made it a point that they reach for his nose. He put his leg into the jam, disorganized the teaspoons and hampered the lemons.

After uncountable obstacles and tremendous efforts, finally, the packing was done at 12:50 and Harris sat on the hamper hoping that nothing was broken. George consoled himself and Harris by saying that if anything was found broken then it would be because it was already broken.

They all were ready for bed and decided to wake up at half past six. George was already asleep by then. So, George and Jerome placed the bath where he could tumble into on getting up in the morning and went to bed themselves.

Margie is the main character of the story. She is a girl of 11 years of age. She writes a diary on the night of 17th May 2157. (Right now, we are living in 2018. As told earlier, the story is set in the future and it is set in the year 2157, so almost one and a half century that is 140 years from now). At that time, Margie writes an entry in her diary and she writes that ‘Tommy found a real book’ and she is feeling so strange because in her times, real books do not exist. They only have e-books, the virtual books. So, books in the format of print on paper are extinct and so, Margie is astonished to see a real book.

Dear dairy,

Today was the most important day for me. I have participated in a solo dance competition. I love to dance but I have stage fear. I was very nervous when they called my name. I was called upon the stage I was very nervous I thought I will not go. But then I remembered my moms lesson to me that we have to face our problems and give our best. So I went upon the stage, prayed God to give me power and gave my 100%. I love to dance and as I danced I forgot all the audience sitting there. As my dance was over I felt very happy. After all the dances, the time for prize distribution was about to start. I was again quite nervous as the other dancers were so good. All were eagerly waiting. The judges announced the winners name. And that was me. I was fully surprised as I thought I won't win among all the 30 solo dancers. I was very happy. The chief minister of our state gave me the award. I was feeling so happy. All my friends were happy too they all greeted me congrats. The dancers were shaking hands with me for my effort and handwork as it was a very tough one. My frnds mom and dad were all very happy. I was feeling very blessed to have the reward.

laziness is hurdles in achieving success this is absolutely true as the sun rises in the East and sets in the west laziness is the stone which comes on the between while we are going to achieve a beautiful dream or going to achieve our success very soon ... sometimes when we get lazy we are facing many problems in our life in achieving success take an example of you have to get early in the morning but what about your laziness you will not be able to get up as soon as you will not fix in your mind that you have to get up ....sometime we people are not willing to get up for sometimes our mind makes up to not to get up......... in the chapter packing we learnt that one should learn to keep patient to do any work across the world......and also not to be get very confident about what we are doing so guys we learn that hurdles makes you not to overcome your success, if in simple word I say hurdle meaning anything that you face difficult or which makes you not to achieve the thing you want so guys laziness is not good and at last we will not get any profit about laziness so you should take a pledge to not to be lazy in life and to achieve the success we want to achieve in our life Thank You

Rohan was a hardworking boy. He wanted to become a doctor. His family condition was not good.
His mother was a general store worker, and his father had a small piece of land which he was struggling to keep. His brother was struggling to get a good college admission, and his sister couldn't find a suitable groom. His wish to become a doctor was neglected by his family, knowing it was ridiculous to wish for things they could not afford. A proper college education to become a doctor was a distant dream for Rohan. For his 15th birthday, his father brought him a cheap second hand laptop he had managed to buy from the small amount of money he made, adjoined with the money from the moneylenders. Rohan was euphoric that day, claiming it as the best day of his life, as he remembered the days and nights he had wished to have a laptop.
He still thought about becoming a doctor, but always ended up with shaking his head with a small scoff, knowing it was nearly impossible. The general store her mother worked in was shutting down soon, and half the income his family made will to along with it. He knew he had to find a job. So the next day, Rohan set out to find a job. He began working as a shopkeeper in one of the stalls in his village, and he made a fair amount. He worked for 6 hours, and got Hundred rupees per hour. On his days off. he helped his father in his farm. But his heart ached to be a doctor. He wanted to help people. But he knew, that being a doctor was not an easy task; it required skill, years of training, and a lot of money. So he began saving up. He bought one of those cheap plastic money banks, and added the money he made daily. By the end of the year, he had made over 50,000 rupees. Rohan was a very hardworking boy. He worked and worked until he had enough money for a proper education. He bought his family a proper house, proper clothes, proper jobs, but still continued to work in that store. Rohan is the perfect example of a rags to riches story. Someday, maybe he will become a doctor.
