The Happy Prince sends sapphire to a young girl and a writer.
The young writer was trying to finish a play but he couldn't because he needed money to buy firewood which would keep him warm. Therefore, the Prince sent sapphire to him so that he could sell it to the jeweller to buy firewood and finish his play.
The Happy Prince sent another sapphire to the little matchgirl who was standing in the square just below him. Her matches had fallen in the gutter because of which they were all spoiled. He knew that her father would beat her if she did not bring home some money.

Love is a feeling that is common both to men and animals. Animals feel as much pleasure in love as men feel. They feel the pangs of separation as actually as men do. This becomes clear from the bond of love between the bear Bruno and the writer's wife. When the bear Bruno is living at the writer's house he is very happy . He grows in his size and height . But when he is sent away to the zoo he remains sad and refuses to eat. He becomes very thin. But when he sees the writer's wife after 3 months he howls with joy and stood on his head in delight. And when it is closing time he cries as bitterly as the writer's wife. All this shows that animals also feel the pleasure of love and the pain of separation.

Wing A, Flat 3,
Belvedere Estate,
Alipore,
Kolkata – 700 027
December 4, 2010.
The Deputy Commissioner,
Kolkata Police (Traffic),
18, Lalbazar Street,
Kolkata – 700 001.
Subject: Chaotic traffic in the area
Respected Sir,
This letter intends to bring to your kind attention the unimaginable harassment that the people are facing around my school, due to the growing instances of traffic jams. We know that the number of vehicles on the roads is on the rise and that there is no proportional increase in the number of roads. So, traffic jams are bound to happen. But I do not intend to disturb you with things that do not have an immediate solution.
It stretches one’s tolerance to the ultimate limit when a difficult situation is aggravated due to the irresponsible behaviour of a few rogue drivers. The Buses and autos on this busy road show an appalling disregard for any kind of traffic law. Buses stopping here and there, autos coming and going through and into every corner and side of the traffic imaginable, drivers getting into an ugly argument on the middle of the road etc., cause havoc for the daily commuter. Also, it's a school zone, so it is even more dangerous for us students who walk in this area.
Auto drivers are presumably above the law for no police officer seems to have the courage of taking them to task because of their strong union. Please do not mind my mentioning the passivity of the police officers posted in the area. Some of the leading newspapers in the area yesterday published photographs of a police officer and a constable smoking (despite the Supreme Court ban) on the Alipore Road even while the traffic was in the doldrums. Need I say more?
It seems that the concerned officers respond to the call of duty only when some minister is using a particular road. I hope you do not construe my helplessness as rudeness.
The most difficult hours during the day are in the morning, when we go to school, and in the evening, when we are returning back home. There are a total of four schools in my area, and this makes the traffic even worse. This is due to the private vehicles that are used to drop us and pick us up from school. I suggest that measures are taken to create an awareness against the usage of private vehicles. Personally, I walk up to school because I live only five minutes away, but, the roads are more dangerous for us pedestrians as there are drivers who try to ride their scooters from every possible space available on the road as well as footpath.
I suggest that a diversion be created along the road that leads to the school, this would make the road a bit safer to walk on. I also suggest that a traffic inspector is assigned to manage the traffic, as the absence of one creates a complete chaos every day on the road.
We have faith in the Police Department and fully understand that there are some dedicated officers who are working day and night to ensure our safety in every sphere. With all due respect to them, I believe that the Police Department needs to pull up its socks to combat the menace of nuisance drivers who aggravate the problem of traffic jams in our city.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Yours sincerely,
Vinay Bora

The demonstrative adjectives this/that/these/those, which may also be pronouns, tell us where an object is located and how many objects there are.
| This and that are used to point to one object. This points to something nearby, while that points to something “over there.” | |
| Examples: | This dog is mine. This is mine. That dog is hers. That is hers. |

It was the season of spring. The people of the village came out of their houses, in colourful attire and walked towards the fair. A child along with his parents was going to the fair and was very excited and happy. He was attracted to the stalls of toys and sweets. Though, his father got angry but his mother pacified him and diverted his attention towards other things. The child moved forward but once again lagged behind because his eyes were caught by one thing or the other every now and then.
As they moved forward, the child wanted the various things on the stalls. His mouth watered seeing sweets decorated with gold and silver leaves. He wanted his favourite burfi but knowing that his parents would refuse on the ground that he was greedy, he walked ahead. Then he saw beautiful garlands of gulmohur but didn’t ask for it, then he saw balloons but he knew very well that his parents would deny due to the fact that he was too old to play with balloons, so he walked away.
Then he saw a snake charmer and a roundabout swing. As he stopped to ask his parents for permission to enjoy the swing, to his astonishment, there was no reply. Neither his father nor his mother was there. Now the child realized that he was lost. He ran here and there but could not find them. The place was overcrowded. He got terrified but suddenly a kind hearted man took him up in his arms and consoled the bitterly weeping child. He asked if he would like to have a joyride but the child sobbed “I want my father, I want my mother.” The man offered him sweets, balloons and garland but the child kept sobbing “I want my father, I want my mother.”

Reporting Clause and Reported Speech:
Sohan told Mohan that he was going to school. The words which generally come before the inverted commas are called the reporting clause, i.e. Sohan said to Mohan and the verb ‘said’, is called the reporting verb. The words spoken by Sohan and put within inverted commas are called the reported speech, i.e. “I am going to school.”

Gerrard was a playwright. He lived alone in a cottage. He was an intelligent person with a good sense of humour. He knew how to handle an adverse situation. He had a lot of patience too. one day an intruder entered his Cottage. when gerrad came to know about his intention. He was not scared at all. He had Presence of Mind. He was very good at story making. H immediately convinced the intruder that Gerrard himself was a criminal and police was after him. The Intruder got convinced by him. Gerrard managed to get rid of the intruder by locking him into the cupboard one Learns from him that one should never lost one's wit in adversity. His Presence of Mind, wit and sense of humour saved him.
