The members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs) are directly elected by the people. They then become members of the legislative assembly and also form the government. Every State in our country has a Legislative Assembly. Each State is divided into different constituencies (areas). From each constituency, the people elect one representative who then becomes a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The MLA represents the constituency in the Legislative Assembly of the State.

India was partitioned in 1947 and this led to a massive transfer of populations on both sides of the new border. As a result, the population of Delhi increased all of a sudden and Delhi became a city of refugees. Most of the migrants were from Punjab. Delhi became a city of refugees, with people living in camps, schools, military barracks, and gardens. New colonies like Lajpat Nagar and Tilak Nagar came up at this time. Shops and stalls were set up to cater to the needs of the migrants' school and colleges were opened. Over two-third of the Delhi, Muslims migrated, and almost 44,000 homes were abandoned. Their places were taken over by Sikh and Hindu refugees from Pakistan. These refugees were mostly rural landlords, lawyers, teachers, traders, and shopkeepers. After Partition, their lives changed as they took up new jobs as hawkers, vendors, carpenters, and ironsmiths

During adolescence, a boy or a girl reaches mental, intellectual and emotional maturity. Adolescence is a period of change in a person's way of thinking. Adolescents are more independent than before and are also self conscious. Intellectual development takes place and they tend to spend considerable time thinking. In fact, it is often the time in one's life when the brain has the greatest capacity for learning. Sometimes, an adolescent may feel insecure while trying to adjust to the changes in the body and mind. The changes which occur in the body of boys and girls may cause emotional swings which show intense feelings like joy, anger, boredom, worries or sadness which are not based on reasoning or knowledge. These changes are a natural part of growing up process.
