Chemical properties of metal

  • The density of metals is usually high.
  • Metals are malleable and ductile.
  • Metals form an alloy with other metals or non – metals.
  • Some metals react with air and corrode. For e.g. Iron.
  • Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity. Lead is an exception.
  • Generally, metals are in a solid state at room temperature. Except for Mercury. Mercury is in a liquid state.

Chemical properties of Non-metal

  • Nonmetals are poor conductors of heat and electricity. Graphite and Gas carbon are exceptions.
  • Unlike metals, nonmetals aren’t malleable and ductile.
  • Nonmetals react more with metals than with nonmetals.
  • Usually, nonmetals react with other nonmetals in high temperature.
  • Most nonmetals do not react with air in room temperature.
  • White phosphorus is the only nonmetal that reacts with air to form its oxide by burning.
  • Usually, nonmetals do not react with water. Except for Chlorine, chlorine dissolves in water to form an acidic solution.

The medicines kill or stop the growth of the disease causing microorganisms are called antibiotic

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 5 months ago

Antigens are foreign pathogens that invade the body and have the capability to give rise to a response from our immunity system either by grouping up with a larger molecule or alone after binding with antibodies for a particular immune response. Hence, antigens stimulate the production of antibodies by the immune system.
The heavy chains of the antibodies contain a variable region and three constant regions. Each antibody has two identical antigen-binding sites and they differ in the antibodies.

Meghna Thapar 5 years, 5 months ago

Antibodies, also known as immunoglobulins, are Y-shaped proteins that are produced by the immune system to help stop intruders from harming the body. When an intruder enters the body, the immune system springs into action. These invaders, which are called antigens, can be viruses, bacteria, or other chemicals. An antibody (Ab), also known as an immunoglobulin (Ig), is a large, Y-shaped protein produced mainly by plasma cells that is used by the immune system to neutralize pathogens such as pathogenic bacteria and viruses. The production of antibodies is the main function of the humoral immune system.

  • The Subsidiary Alliance system was used by Lord Wellesley, who was Governor-General of India from 1798-1805, to build an empire in India.
  • Under the system, the allying Indian state's ruler was compelled to accept the permanent stationing of a British force within his territory and to pay a subsidy for its maintenance.
  • Also, the Indian ruler had to agree to the posting of a British Resident in his court.
  • Under the Subsidiary Treaty, the Indian ruler could not employ any European in his service without the prior approval of the British. Nor could he negotiate with any other Indian ruler without consulting the Governor-General.
  • In return for all this, the British agreed to defend the ruler from his enemies and adopt a policy of non-interference in the internal matters of the allied state.
