The 5 R's – reduce, reuse, recycle, recover and residual management. Reduce, reuse, recycle, recover and residual management. – Five actions that can make your organization and you a better steward.
Reduce: Reducing waste is the most important thing we can do. By reducing waste, we avoid the unnecessary use of resources such as materials, energy and water. It means there is less waste to manage.
Reuse: The next most important thing we can do is reuse waste material. That way it doesn't go in the rubbish and end up in the landfill. It also means you don't have to buy a new product. That saves you money and saves the energy and resources that would have been used to make the new product.
Recycle: Recycling involves some form of reprocessing of waste materials to produce another product. For example, recycling plastic bottles to make buckets.
Recover: This is the recovery of waste without any pre-processing. For example, waste oils that cannot be refined for reuse in vehicles can be burnt for energy recovery. Recovering the energy from waste oil reduces our dependence on coal and imported oil.
Residual Management:This is the last option when waste cannot be used in any other way. Usually, this means sending rubbish to a landfill. Residual disposal of liquid waste is normally into a sewer or septic tank.
It is very important to manage residual solid and liquid waste properly. Waste not disposed of correctly can cause damage to health and the environment.

The Marathas lost their best leaders in this battle which permitted weak leaders like Raghunath Rao to come up in politics. It reduced the power and prestige of the Peshwa which, ultimately, resulted in the disruption of the unity of the Marathas and led to the creation of a confederacy of the rival Maratha chiefs.

The East India Company set up first English factory on the banks of the river Hugli in the year 1651.
(i)This was the base from which the company’s traders, known at that time as ‘factors’, operated. The factory had a warehouse where goods for export were stored and it had offices where Company officials set.
(ii)As trade expanded, the Company persuaded merchants and traders to come and settle near the factory. By 1696 the Company began to build a fort around the settlement.
(iii)Two years later it bribed Mughal officials into giving the Company zamindari rights over three villages. One of these was Kalikata which later developed into a city, known as Calcutta.
(iv)The Company also persuaded the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb to issue a farman granting the company the right to trade duty free. The Company tried continuously to press for more concessions and manipulate existing privileges.
(v)For instance, Aurangzeb’s farman had granted only the Company the right to trade duty free. But Company officials who were carrying on private trade on the side, were expected to pay duty. But they refused to pay. This caused huge loss of revenue for Bengal.

a Constitution can be described as a document outlining the basic laws or principles by which a country is to be governed
The committee had to keep in mind that India was a land of many communities, languages and many religions. India was a land of diverse cultures and the Princely states in India had to be considered. The partition of the country into India and Pakistan was about to happen and the drafting committee had to bear this in mind. Finally the biggest consideration was the socio-economic condition of a majority of Indians which was in a bad state.
