Common property resources (environmental) are natural resources owned and managed collectively by a community or society rather than by individuals. The use of the term "common property resource" to designate a type of good has been criticized, because common-pool resources are not necessarily governed by common property protocols. Examples of common-pool resources include irrigation systems, fishing grounds, pastures, forests, water or the atmosphere.

We can conserve our land resources by adopting the following measures:
1. By educating, informing and sensitizing all landholders about various aspects of this precious resources and their sustainable use.
2. Contour ploughing is another measure to conserve our land. By this method, the fields are ploughed, harrowed and sown along the natural contour of the hills.
3. By terracing method: A series of wide steps are made along the slop following the contours. This method is very common in rice growing regions.
4. Under the afforestation and reforestation programmes, planting of trees, bushes and grass help to check the soil erosion,
5. Strict actions are taken to check reckless felling of trees and overgrazing.
6. Shelter belts (rows of trees) are planted on the margins of desert areas to check the fury of wind.
7. Construction of dams and gully-trap inculcate the water-harvesting.

Measures to Conserve the Land Resources:
- Afforestation.
- Proper management of grazing.
- Stabilisation of sand dunes by plantation of thorny bushes.
- Proper management of waste lands.
- By proper irrigation.
- By proper harvesting.
- Control over mining activities.
- Proper management of land after completion of mining work.

Soil is composed of distinct layers. The rotting matter in the soil is called humus. A vertical section through the soil showing the different layers of soil is called soil profile. Soil profile consists of three different layers of soil. Each layer of soil is called a horizon. The three layers of soil in the soil profile are:
- A-horizon or Top-soil: The uppermost horizon is generally dark in colour as it is rich in minerals and humus. The humus makes the soil fertile and provides nutrients to growing plants. This layer is generally soft, porous and can retain more water. The plant roots grow in the top soil. This layer contains many living things like worms, rodents, and moles etc. Bacteria and fungi also occur in top soil. This layer contains lot of dead and decaying matter which makes it the most fertile layer. It is called the topsoil or the A-horizon.
- B-horizon or Subsoil: The layer of soil which is just below the top-soil is called B-horizon. This layer has a lesser amount of humus but more of minerals. This layer is generally harder and more compact and made up of slightly bigger rock particles than that of top-soil. The subsoil is light in color compared to upper layer.
- C-horizon or Sub-stratum: The third layer is the C-horizon, which is made up of small lumps of rocks with cracks and crevices. Below this layer is the bedrock, which is hard and difficult to dig with a spade.
The soil profile could be seen below the top surface by looking g at the sides of a recently dug trench or can be seen at the sides of a road on the hill or a steep river bank.

Humus can be simply defined as the fertile and the important constituent of the soil.
Humus are the dark, organic material present on top of the soil. This organic matter mainly constitutes of dead and decaying animal substances, dried leaves, twigs, grasses, vegetables, microbes and other nutrients.
Humus are naturally obtained soil, which can be easily produced through a process called composting. It is also referred to as mineral soil, therefore, it is widely used by farmers and gardeners to improve the plant’s yield. The main significance of Humus is it helps in the improvement of crop production, improves the fertility of the earth, increases water content in the soil by rapid absorption and also improves the soil workability.

Let the adjacent angles of the parallelogram be 2x and 3x.
We know that sum of adjacent angles of a parallelogram is 180o.
⇒ 2x + 3x = 180o
⇒ 5x = 180o
⇒ x = 36o
Therefore, adjacent angles are 2 × 36o = 72o and 3 × 36o = 108o
We know that the opposite angles of a parallelogram are equal.
Thus, the angles of the parallelogram are 72o, 108o, 72o, 108o.

When earthquakes occur on areas with steep slopes, many times the soil slips causing landslides. Furthermore, ashen debris flows caused by earthquakes can also trigger mass movement of soil. Heavy Rainfall: When sloped areas become completely saturated by heavy rainfall many times landslides can occur. Tsunamis are large, potentially deadly and destructive sea waves, most of which are formed as a result of submarine earthquakes. They can also result from the eruption or collapse of island or coastal volcanoes and from giant landslides on marine margins. These landslides, in turn, are often triggered by earthquakes. Tsunamis can be generated on impact as a rapidly moving landslide mass enters the water or as water displaces behind and ahead of a rapidly moving underwater landslide.

The property of metals by which they can be beaten into thin sheets is called malleability. For example aluminium is beaten into sheets. varies according to temperature. It metals like gold, silver, copper iron, etc exhibit this property. Not all metals undergo this property of malleability.

A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if
i)Its opposite sides are equal
ii) its opposite angles are equal
iii) diagonals bisect each other
iv) a pair of opposite sides is equal and parallel.
v) The sum of the adjacent angles should be 180∘
=========================================================
Solution:
i)
if ∠D + ∠B = 180°, a quadrilateral ABCD may or may not be a parallelogram
but it should also fulfilled some conditions which are as:
The sum of the adjacent angles should be 180∘
Opposite angles must be of equal length.
(ii) No, opposite sides should be of same length. Here, opposite sides are of different lengths. AD ≠ BC
(iii) No, opposite angles should be of same measures. Here opposite angles are of different measures. ∠A ≠ ∠C.

Biodiversity refers to the number and variety of various life forms such as plants, animals, and microorganisms in an area. Plants and animals depend on each other for survival. This means that the destruction of either of the two will affect the life of the other. Hence, we need to conserve biodiversity to maintain the balance of nature.
