The delta region of the eastern coast is frequently struck by cyclones because the cyclonic depressions which originate over the Andaman Sea generally cross the Eastern coasts of India and cause heavy and widespread rain, (a) These cyclones are often very destructive. The thickly populated deltas of the Godavari, the Krishna and the Kaveri are frequently struck by cyclones which cause great damage to life and property. (b) Sometimes these cyclones arrive at the coasts of Odisha, West Bangal and Bangladesh.

Any number that can be written as a fraction with integers is called a rational number . For example, 17 and −34 are rational numbers. (Note that there is more than one way to write the same rational number as a ratio of integers. For example, 17 and 214 represent the same rational number.
Types of Rational Numbers
- Real numbers (R) include all the rational numbers (Q).
- Real numbers include the integers (Z).
- Integers involve natural numbers(N).
- Every whole number is a rational number because every whole number can be expressed as a fraction.

The cathode in the electroplating circuit is the part that needs to be plated. It is also called the substrate. This part acts as the negatively charged electrode in the circuit. Solution: The electrodepositing reaction takes place in an electrolytic solution. The part to be coated acts as the cathode (negative electrode) of an electrolytic cell; the electrolyte is a solution of a salt of the metal to be coated; and the anode (positive electrode) is usually either a block of that metal, or of some inert conductive material.

Wood has been a traditional fuel for both domestic and industrial use. However, it produces a lot of smoke that can cause respiratory problems. Also, wood is obtained from trees. Thus, using wood as a fuel causes deforestation. Therefore, slowly wood is replaced by LPG, which is a liquefied form of petroleum gas. It does not give out smoke and other pollutants and is a cleaner fuel. Again, fuel efficiency of LPG is more than that of wood. The calorific value of LPG is 55000 kj/kg, while that of wood is between 17000 to 22000 kj/kg. Hence, LPG is favoured over wood.

There are three zones in flame, viz. outer zone, middle zone and inner zone.
Outer Zone: This zone is blue in colour. It is the hottest part of the flame, because complete combustion takes place in this zone.
Middle Zone: This zone is yellow and orange in colour. This zone is moderately hot because partial combustion takes place in this zone.
Inner Zone: This zone is dark in colour. This is the coolest part of the flame because no combustion takes place in this zone.

Indian National Congress is popularly known as the Congress Party. It is one of the oldest parties of the world. It was founded in 1885. It played an important role in Indian politics at the national and state levels after the independence. Under Nehru the party tried to build a modern secular democratic republic in India.
It remained in power till 1977 and then from 1980-1989 but after that its support declined. The party supports secularism and welfare of weaker sections and minorities. It supports new economic reforms with a human face. It emerged as a single largest party with 145 seats in 2004 elections and is currently leading the ruling United Progressive Alliance coalition government at the centre.

The Anglo-Mysore Wars were a series of four wars between the British and the Kingdom of Mysore in the latter half of the 18th century in Southern India.
First Anglo-Mysore War
- Haider Ali built a strong army and annexed many regions in the South including Bidnur, Canara, Sera, Malabar and Sunda.
- He also took French support in training his army.
- This alarmed the British.
Second Anglo-Mysore War (1780 – 1784)
- The Marathas attacked Mysore in 1771. But the British refused to honour the Treaty of Madras and did not give support to Hyder Ali.
- As a result, Hyder Ali’s territories were taken by the Marathas. He had to buy peace with the Marathas for a sum of Rs.36 lakh and another annual tribute.
- This angered Hyder Ali who started hating the British.
- When the English attacked Mahe, a French possession under Hyder Ali’s dominion, he declared war on the English in 1780.
Third Anglo-Mysore War (1786 – 1792)
Causes of the war:
- The British started improving their relationship with the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Marathas.
- Tipu Sultan, who assumed control of Mysore after Hyder Ali’s death, had French help in bettering his military resources.
- He also refused to free the English prisoners taken during the second Anglo-Mysore war as per the Treaty of Mangalore.

Chromosomes are thread-like structures present in the nucleus, which carries genetic information from one generation to another. They play a vital role in cell division, heredity, variation, mutation, repair and regeneration.
In Eukaryotic cells, genetic material is present in the nucleus in chromosomes, which is made up of highly organized DNA molecules with histone proteins supporting its structure.
Chromosome means ‘coloured body’, that refers to its staining ability by certain dyes.

So Muslims fast during Ramzan, Christians during Lent and Hindus during Navaratri.
