Reduce means to use a material/commodity in lesser quantity,.
e.g electricity and water

Recycle means a material that is used once is collected and sent back to a manufacturer so that they can make some other useful material from it. 
e.g., plastic cups and buckets, glass tumbler, paper, metal objects.

Reuse means using a thing over and over again instead of throwing it away. It does not involve the process of recycling either in small or large scale.
e.g., used envelopes, plastic carry bags, bottles of jam.

कल ही तुम्हारा पत्र मिला जिसे पढ़ कर ऐसा  महसूस हुआ कि तुम सचमुच में अमेरिकी आबोहवा में रच बस गए हो । तुमने अमेरिका में मनाए जाने वाले त्योहारों का बड़ा ही सुंदर वर्णन किया है जिससे मैं बहुत प्रभावित हुआ हूँ किन्तु हमारे त्योहारों कि बात ही कुछ और है। अब मैं इस पत्र में भारतीय त्योहारों के विषय में लिख रहा हूँ। तुम्हें तो पता ही है कि भारत त्योहारों का देश है जिनमें दीवाली, दशहरा, होली, रक्षाबंधन, जन्माष्टमी, लोहड़ी, करवाचौथ, वसंत-पंचमी, बैसाखी,15 अगस्त, 26 जनवरी, 2 अक्टूबर, 14 नवंबर आदि प्रमुख हैं। पर इसके अतिरिक्त भी यहाँ मानो हर दिन ही त्योहार मनाए जाते हैं।प्रत्येक त्योहार अपने भीतर मानो एक संदेश छिपाये है जैसे  दीवाली अज्ञान (तम) पर ज्ञान (प्रकाश) की विजय, दशहरा असत्य पर सत्य की जीत, होली में सभी पुराने वैर भावों को भूलकर एक दूसरे से गले मिलते हैं। हर त्योहार भारतीय बड़ी ही धूमधाम और उत्साह  से मनाते हैं। दीवाली दीपों का त्योहार हैं | दशहरा मेलों का त्योहार तथा होली रंगों का त्योहार है। मित्र, इस पत्र में इतनी जानकारी पर्याप्त है। शेष अगले पत्र में लिखूंगा । अपने माता-पिता को मेरा प्रणाम कहना तथा छोटे भाई को प्यार देना। अब की होली पर  तुम अवश्य भारत आना तुम अमेरिका भूल जाओगे।

विषय-प्लास्टिक की चीजों से हो रही हानि के संबंध में 
महोदय,

आजकल प्लास्टिक से निर्मित वस्तुएँ बाजार में अधिक संख्या में बिक रही हैं।जीवन का शायद ही कोई ऐसा क्षेत्र हो जहाँ प्लास्टिक न हो । मानव ने प्लास्टिक का निर्माण करके अपने जीवन में एक ओर जहाँ क्रांतिकारी परिवर्तन कर उसे सरल बना दिया है, वहीं दूसरी ओर इससे पर्यावरण प्रदूषित हो गया है। प्लास्टिक के कारखाने बड़ी मात्रा में वायु प्रदूषण फैलाते हैं और  प्रयोग करने के बाद बचा हुआ प्लास्टिक किसी भी तरह से पुन: उपयोग में नहीं आता। आपसे अनुरोध है कि आप अपने सामाचार पत्र में इसे छापकर प्लास्टिक से बनी चीजों से हो रही हानि के बारे में लोगों को अवगत करायें। जिससे लोगों में जागृति पैदा हो और वे प्लास्टिक से निर्मित चीजों का उपयोग न तो स्वयं  करेंऔर न ही दूसरों को करने दें। अपने समाचार-पत्र के द्वारा अधिकारियों तथा प्रशासकों का ध्यान इस ओर आकर्षित करें ताकि वे युद्धस्तर लोगों को जागरूक करें और प्लास्टिक रहित जीवन के लिए प्रेरित कर सकें।

Effects of using fertilizers –

• Effect on soil quality – Continued use of fertilizers leads to a loss of organic matter, a deterioration of soil structure.
• Eutrophication – Excessive use of fertilizers build up nitrates on the soil.

Nitrates and phosphates are washed by rain and carried to lakes, ponds and rivers and causes excessive growth of plants of algae. Algae deplete the oxygen content of the water body making it dead for other animals.

Due to continuous rain, the soil gets water logged. In water logged soil, there is deficiency of oxygen. Thus, the roots of plants do not get enough oxygen to respire and ultimately die out. Roots are responsible for absorbing minerals from soil which is essential for plants to survive. So, once the roots die out, the plants do not survive.

Hyder Ali was the Sultan and de facto ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore in southern India.
