The following changes occurred in the composition of the Company's army:
(i) The Company started recruiting professional soldiers in place of sawars and paidal (foot) soldiers.
(ii) The soldiers of the Company were now armed with muskets and matchlocks.
(iii) The British began to develop a uniform military culture. Soldiers were increasingly subjected to European- style training, drill and discipline that regulated their life for more than before.

• Bepin Choudhury: is an old man who had no children. He was living a lonely life after his wife’s demise. He was working in reputed firm at responsible post and have few friends.
Personality: He had keen interest in reading books. This is shown in starting of story, he stop his car every Monday in New market to buy books. He never wanted to waste his time in idle chatting.
• Parimal Ghose: He is round faced, meek looking man who intrude Bepin Choudhury in book shop. He tried to make believe Bepin babu that he had gone to Ranchi. He also provided many evidence that make Bepin rely on his statement.

Q: If x+y= 7 & xy=12 then the value x³ +y³
Explanation is as follows:
(x+y)^3=x^3+3x^2y+3xy^2+y^3
= x^3+y^3+3xy(x+y)
x^3+y^3=(x+y)^3-3xy(x+y)
= (12)^3-3(27)(12)
=1728-972
x^3+y^3=756

19 men take 21 days working 15/2 hours per day.
Hours per day 45 men will take to complete in 7 days will be:
if 19 men = 15/2 hours
then 45 men = 19/45 hours ( this because the 45 men will take less hours per day, hence you use the lesser fraction of the two values)
if 21 days = 15/2 hours per day
then 7 days= 21/7 (this because the hours required will be more, hence you use the larger fraction of the two values)
therefore the calculation is = 15/2 x 19/45 x 21/7
= (15x19x21)/(2x45x7)
= 19/2
= 9.5 hours per day
