Lord Dalhousie was the Governor General of India from 1848-56. He devised the policy of Doctrine pf Lapse. According to the Doctrine of Lapse introduced by Lord Dalhousie, if any Indian ruler died without leaving a male heir, his kingdom passed over to the British.
Four kingdoms annexed by Lord Dalhousie through this policy were Jhansi, Satara, Nagpur and Jaitpur.

Domestic violence is verbal, physical, sexual, economical, and emotional abuse by an adult male to a women or girl .Two rights that surviving women get were Domestic Violence Bill, 2001 and The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 that include
1) to provide relief to daughters, women, wives,etc.
2) It also gave women financial relief to survivors.
3) It gives rights to women to live in a shared household.
4) Protection against any harassment.

The Revolt of 1857 was one of the first wars of Indian independence against the British. This revolt can aptly be termed the first war of Indian independence against the British. Kings, peasants, tribals, landlords and we sepoys, all were dissatisfied with the British rule.
The start of the revolt was on the 29th of March, 1857, when Mangal Pandey, attacked his officers. The attack by Mangal Pandey is considered one of the first acts of what came to be known as the Great Rebellion or the Sepoy Mutiny.

- British introduced their own administrative system in India.
- In this system, they needed clerical people who can work for them in the given setup.
- Since it was difficult to bring the British for this job so Indians were recruited.
- Indians were always given clerical jobs and they were administered by the British civil servant.
- In Army, no Indian could ever rise to a rank above Subedar.
- Civil service examination were held in London with age 19 so it found very few Indians.

The sword was made up of wootz steel which is hardened steel. It is a light weight and very strong material despite the fact that his sword was approx 14 kg.
