- Paper is collected from different garbage bins and is accumulated in a large garbage container.
- Then the paper is taken to the recycling plant where the paper is segregated into different grades.
- Papers in different grades are then washed with soap and water to remove ink, staples, and glue. It is then mixed with water to create a slurry.
- On adding some specific materials and chemicals to the slurry, different paper products such as cardboard, office paper, etc. can be obtained.
- The slurry is then rolled into thin sheets using large rollers.
- Then the paper is exposed to heat for drying up and after that, it is cut into pieces and is made ready to use again.

The term recycling of paper means to process the waste paper so that it can be used again.paper can be recycled from old newspaper, magazines, notebooks, packaging material after removing ink from them. We should save paper, reuse paper and recycle paper.By doing this we will not only save trees but also save energy and water needed for manufacturing paper

Carbonization (or carbonisation) is the term for the conversion of an organic substance into carbon or a carbon-containing residue through pyrolysis or destructive distillation. It is often used in organic chemistry with reference to the generation of coal gas and coal tar from raw coal.
Displacement reaction
In displacement reaction a more reactive metal displaces a less reactive metal but a less reactive metal cannot displace a more reactive metal.

Causes of deforestation Clearing of forests(by cutting down forest trees)over a wide area is called deforestation. The various causes of deforestation are: 1)They are cut down to obtain wood for using fuel. 2)They are cut down to obtain wood for making doors, windows and furniture. 3)The forest trees are cut down to obtain wood for making paper. 4)The forest trees are cut down to obtain more agricultural land for cultivation of crops for the increasing population. 5)The forest trees are cut down to get land for building houses, factories, roads and dams. These are the man made causes of deforestation. Some of the natural causes of deforestation are forest fires and severe droughts. Forest fire can burn down all the trees and other vegetation of the forest. When severe drought occur, the forest trees dies out because of lack of water.

Crop Rotation: The practice in which different types of crops are grown alternately in the same field or soil is called crop rotation. In crop rotation cereal crops like wheat, maize, paddy, millet are grown alternately with leguminous crops like pulses, peas, beans, groundnut , clover in the same field.
Mixed cropping: Growing two or more crops simultaneously on the same piece of land is called mixed cropping.
e.g Wheat + gram or Wheat + mustard

Metals Iron is used for making automobiles, machinery, pipes, containers, nails, etc. Gold and silver are used for making jewellery. Copper is used for making electrical wires, cooking utensils, etc. Zinc is mainly used as a protective coating for iron. Aluminium is used for making electrical cables, packaging, cooking utensils, etc.
Non-metals Hydrogen is used for the synthesis of ammonia and methyl alcohol, in welding torches, etc. Sulphur is used in the manufacture of compounds like sulphuric acid and sulphates and in the production of matches, dyes, and gunpowder. Graphite is used in pencils, in zinc-carbon batteries, and in brake linings. Phosphorus is used in the fireworks industry and for making special glasses used in sodium lamps

Continuous plantation of crops in a field makes the soil poor in certain nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, etc. Plants require nutrients for their proper growth and functioning. When a farmer continues to grow’ crops one after the other, then all nutrients available in the soil reduce and the crop yield decreases automatically.

All metals can be beaten into thin sheets. This property of metals is called malleability.
Metals have the ability to withstand high tensile strength and can be made into thin sheets. That is why, aluminium is used to make aluminium foil for packaging materials.

The metals are to the left of the line (except for hydrogen, which is a nonmetal), the nonmetals are to the right of the line, and the elements immediately adjacent to the line are the metalloids. When elements combine to form compounds, there are two major types of bonding that can result. Alloys are a mixture of 2 or more metallic elements to take advantage of characteristics of all. Metals mixed with other non-metal compunds are usually called cermets.

Cells constitute various components of plants and animals. A cell is the smallest unit of life and is capable of all living functions. Cells are the building blocks of life. This is the reason why cells are referred to as ‘the basic structural and functional unit of life’. All cells vary in their shapes, sizes, and activities they perform. In fact, the shape and size of the cell is related to the specific function it performs.

Roots, the underground part of the plants absorb air from the air spaces present between the soil particles. Thus, the oxygen absorbed through the roots is used to release energy which is later utilized for the transportation of minerals and salts from the soil.

Some important weeding methods are:
- Weeds can be controlled using weedicides. It is a chemical, which is sprayed in the fields to kill all available weeds. Weedicides are not harmful to crops.
- Tilling before sowing of crops also helps in removing weeds. Tilling uproots the weeds. The best time for the removal of weeds is before they produce flowers and seeds.
- The manual method of removing weeds is with the help of a khurpi. It involves regular uprooting or cutting of weeds close to the ground.

The metals placed above hydrogen in the series can displace it from acids such as HCl and H2SO4 (since they are more reactive).
Gaurav Seth 5 years, 1 month ago
Reactivity series is the series of metals based on their reactivity from highest to lowest. So, reactivity series of metals can be defined as a series of metals, in order of reactivity from highest to lowest. It is also known as activity series. The reactivity of metals is because of their incomplete outer orbitals or due to their electronic configuration. Metals form positively charged ions as they tend to lose electrons. Metals with high atomic numbers tend to be more reactive as their electrons are far from the positively charged nucleus. So, they can be removed easily.
Reactivity series of metals is given below -

Humus can be simply defined as the fertile and the important constituent of the soil.
Humus are the dark, organic material present on top of the soil. This organic matter mainly constitutes of dead and decaying animal substances, dried leaves, twigs, grasses, vegetables, microbes and other nutrients.
Humus are naturally obtained soil, which can be easily produced through a process called composting. It is also referred to as mineral soil, therefore, it is widely used by farmers and gardeners to improve the plant’s yield. The main significance of Humus is it helps in the improvement of crop production, improves the fertility of the earth, increases water content in the soil by rapid absorption and also improves the soil workability.

Biodiversity refers to the number and variety of various life forms such as plants, animals, and microorganisms in an area. Plants and animals depend on each other for survival. This means that the destruction of either of the two will affect the life of the other. Hence, we need to conserve biodiversity to maintain the balance of nature.
