Measures which can be taken to conserve forests and wildlife are:
- The unauthorized cutting of forest trees for timber trade and fire-wood should be stopped immediately.
- In case of Government authorized felling of trees, for every acre of forest cut down, an equal area of land should be planted with saplings of trees to make up for the loss in long run.
- The natural habitats of wild animals should be preserved by establishing conservation areas such as Biosphere Reserves, Wildlife Sanctuaries and National Parks.
- A total ban should be imposed on the poaching or capturing of any wild animal or bird.

Following is the role of gravitation in supporting life on earth :-
Gravitational biology is the study of the effects gravity has on living organisms. Throughout the history of the Earth life has evolved to survive changing conditions, such as changes in the climate and habitat. However, one constant factor in evolution since life first began on Earth is the force of gravity.

Organisms which are composed of multiple cells are called multicellular organisms. These cells are attached to each other to procedure a multicellular organism. Most of these cells are visible to the naked eye. Organisms including, animals, birds, plants, humans are the main groups of a multicellular organism. Most of the multicellular organisms are eukaryotes.
Multicellular Organisms Examples
Some of the examples of multicellular organisms are listed below:
- Animal – Hydra
- Plant – Spirogyra
- Cyanobacteria such as Chara (Multicellular prokaryotic organisms)
- Species of gymnosperms and angiosperm plants (Multicellular eukaryotic organisms)

Cover slips are small squares of glass that cover the specimen placed on the microscope slide. They flatten the specimen for better viewing and also decrease the rate of evaporation from the sample, both in wet and dry mounted slides. If a stain or other liquid has been added, the cover slip keeps it on the specimen. Cover slips also protect the specimens from contamination by airborne particles or other substances.

The cells having nuclear material without nuclear membrane are termed as prokaryotic cells. The organisms with these kinds of cells are called prokaryotes. Example - bacteria and blue green algae. The cells having well organized nucleus with a nuclear membrane are termed as eukaryotic cells. All organisms other than bacteria and blue green algae are called eukaryotes. Example – plant cell and an animal cell.

Corrosion is a process in which materials deteriorate as a result of a chemical reaction with moisture and other chemicals present in its surroundings. Generally, metals get corroded more easily. For example, iron in the presence of moisture, reacts with oxygen (air) to form hydrated iron oxide also called Rust.
4Fe + 3O2 +nH2O → 2Fe2O3.nH2O

Perennial Canals: These canals flow all the year round and thus they are known as perennial canals. They draw water from perennial rivers or from artificial lakes which maintain a high level of water on the upstream side. Inundation canal are long canals taken off from large rivers. Perennial canals usually have water in them all year through, as they originate from dam reservoirs or barrages. Since they provide water throughout the year, they are more suitable for agriculture and other purposes. Because of this reason, more Inundation canals are being converted to Perennial canals.

The pressure exerted by air around us is known as atmospheric pressure.
Take a good quality rubber sucker. It looks like a small rubber cup. Press it hard on a smooth plane surface. When we press the sucker, most of the air between its cup and the surface escapes out. The sucker sticks to the surface because the pressure of atmosphere acts on it. To pull the sucker off the surface, the applied force should be large enough to overcome the atmospheric pressure. This activity shows the magnitude of atmospheric pressure.

Living things and their environment together form an ecosystem. The living or biotic components of an ecosystem are producers, consumers and decomposers.
- Producers: All producers are autotrophs because they make food for all non-green living organisms on earth. Example – green plants.
- Consumers: Animals and non-green plants obtain nutrients from the green plants and are called consumers. Consumers are heterotrophs. They are divided into three types – herbivores, carnivores and omnivores.
- Herbivores eat plants and plant products. Example – cow, goat, camel, elephant, etc.
- Carnivores are flesh-eating animals. They prey upon herbivores. Examples – tiger, lion, fox, hawk, etc.
- Omnivores eat both plants and animals. Examples – man, crow, bear, etc.
- Decomposers: They decompose and destroy the dead remains of plants and animals and return nutrients to the soil and help in the formation of humus. Examples – fungi and bacteria.
