Ventilation is extremely necessary as it circulates air in the house. There is a constant supply of fresh air and this removes the air present before. If there was no ventilation then the room might stink and there can be a feeling of stuffiness. Ventilation is very useful for those people who are suffering from respiratory diseases.

A bimetallic strip consists of two different materials with different expansion coefficients that are bonded together. For example, for brass and steel, the coefficients of linear expansion are:

Brass: 19 x 10-6 /°C       Steel: 11 x 10-6 /°C

When this bimetallic strip is heated, the brass expands more than the steel and the strip curves with the brass on the outside. If the strip is cooled, it curves with the steel on the outside.

Bimetallic strips are used as switches in thermostats.

a storm with loud noises and flashes of light in the sky (thunder and lightning)

Yogita Ingle 7 years, 3 months ago

Thunderstorm: Many a times, rain is associated with lightning. Rain with lightning is called thunderstorm. This happens mostly in the summer. Thunderstorm occurs frequently in hot and humid tropical areas, such as India.

In summer, the air rises up along with lot of moisture. After rising up to a certain height water vapour cools down and starts coming down in the form of water droplets. The swift drifting of water droplets creates electricity among clouds. This manifests in the form of lighting and sound. This is known as thunderstorm.

CO2+H2O in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll = C6 H12 O6+O2

Yogita Ingle 7 years, 3 months ago

Photosynthesis is defined as the process in which the chlorophyll-containing plant cells synthesize food in the form of carbohydrates, using carbon dioxide and water in the presence of solar energy.
Sources of raw materials required for photosynthesis:
(a)  Water is taken in, from the roots of the plant and is transported to the leaves.
(b)  Carbon dioxide from the air enters the leaves through the pores called stomata and diffuses to the cells containing chlorophyll.
(c)  Solar energy is used to break water into hydrogen and oxygen. This hydrogen is combined with carbon dioxide to form food for the plants, which is ultimately used by the animals as well.
