Soil gets polluted by the excessive use of fertilizers or mixing of the non-biodegradable waste with it.Soil pollution can be prevented if we use the fertilizers adequately or manure instead of fertilizers.Restricting the use of non- biodegradable material can also be a solution.

Unsaturated solutions are those solutions which contain less amount of solute in them than that of the actual amount of solvent which can be dissolved. If more amount of solutes in a solution, then that solution will be considered as a saturated.

The process by which heat is transferred from the hotter parts of a liquid to its colder parts by the movement of the liquid itself is known as convection. For e.g. water is a good convector. When water is heated, the water near the flame gets hotter and rises up. The cold water from the sides moves down towards the source of heat. This water also gets hot and rises up. The hand above the flame also becomes hot due to convection.

In human beings, air is taken into the body through the nostrils, is filtered by fine hairs that line the passage. When air passes through the nasal passage, the dust particles and other impurities present in it are trapped by nasal hair and mucus so that clean air goes into the lungs. From here, the air passes through the throat and into the lungs. Trachea does not collapse even when there is no air in it because it is supported by rings of soft bones called cartilage.
Within the lungs, the passage divides into smaller and smaller tubes which finally terminate in balloon-like structures which are called alveoli. The alveoli provide a surface where the exchange of gases can take place. The walls of the alveoli contain an extensive network of blood-vessels. When we breathe in, the ribs are lift up and the diaphragm flattens which increases the size of the chest cavity. Because of this, air is sucked into the lungs and fills the expanded alveoli. The blood brings carbon dioxide from the rest of the body for release into the alveoli, and the oxygen in the alveolar air is taken up by blood in the alveolar blood vessels to be transported to all the cells in the body. During the breathing cycle, when air is taken in and let out, the lungs always contain a residual volume of air so that there is sufficient time for oxygen to be absorbed and for the carbon dioxide to be released.

Acid rain is caused by a chemical reaction that begins when compounds like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released into the air. These substances can rise very high into the atmosphere, where they mix and react with water, oxygen, and other chemicals to form more acidic pollutants, known as acid rain.

The blood platelets are responsible for the clotting of the blood. When some injury occurs blood starts flowing. But it clots on its own. If there are no platelets, the blood will not be able to clot and keep on flowing. Huge loss of blood ultimately causes death.

Soil Erosion: Removal of topsoil by weathering agents; such as wind, water and ice is known as soil erosion. Soil erosion affects the fertility of soil, as humus present in the soil is eroded along with soil. It is important to prevent soil erosion.
Soil Pollutions – The soil is an essential nutrient for the existence of plants and for agriculture. It is very important for maintaining an ecological balance in nature and keeping our environment green. But with the current trend of increasing population, there is a consequent increase in demand for land and other resources.
Percolation Rate of Water: Amount of water drained through water in unit time is known as percolation rate of water in soil. Percolation rate of water can be calculated using the formula given here.
Percolation rate (mL/min) = Amount of water in mL/Time taken to percolate
The percolation rate of water in sandy soil is fastest and in clayey soil is slowest.

Thunderstorm: Many a times, rain is associated with lightning. Rain with lightning is called thunderstorm. This happens mostly in the summer. Thunderstorm occurs frequently in hot and humid tropical areas, such as India. In summer, the air rises up along with lot of moisture. After rising up to a certain height water vapour cools down and starts coming down in the form of water droplets. The swift drifting of water droplets creates electricity among clouds. This manifests in the form of lighting and sound. This is known as thunderstorm.

Activity:
· Take some camphor or ammonium chloride.
· Crush the compound taken and put it in a china dish
· Put an inverted funnel over the china dish
· Put a cotton plug on the stem of the funnel
· Heat the china dish slowly and observe.
Observation: A change of state directly from solid to gas without changing into liquid state (or vice versa) is observed, this phenomenon is called sublimation.

The momentum is defined as the product of its mass and velocity.
Linear Momentum = mass × velocity
S.I Unit of Momentum = S.I Unit of mass × S.I Unit of velocity
S.I Unit of Momentum = kg × m.s-1
S.I Unit of Momentum = kg.m.s-1

In a qualitative way, the tendency of undisturbed objects to stay at rest or to keep moving with the same velocity is called inertia.
Example: The dust particles fly away from the blanket when we jerk it due to the inertia of rest.
Sonali Aggarwal 7 years, 3 months ago
Inertia is the resistance, of any physical object, to any change in its velocity. This includes changes to the object's speed, or direction of motion.

Newton's first law of motion states that an object remains in a state of rest or of uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to change that state by an applied force.
In other words, all objects resist a change in their state of rest or motion.
Sonali Aggarwal 7 years, 3 months ago
First Law Of Motion. Isaac Newton's first law of motion, also known as the law of inertia, states that an object at rest will stay at rest and an object in motion will stay in motion with the same speed and direction unless acted upon by unbalanced force.

Law of conservation of linear momentum is a extremely important consequence of Newton's third law of motion in combination with the second law of motion. According to law of conservation of momentum
When two or more bodies acts upon each other their total momentum remains constant provided no external forces are acting
So, Momentum is never created or destroyed.
Sonali Aggarwal 7 years, 3 months ago
For a collision occurring between object 1 and object 2 in an isolated system, the total momentum of the two objects before the collision is equal to the total momentum of the two objects after the collision.
