An electric bulb is a device which produces light when electricity is passed through its terminals.
- The bulb has two thick contact wires in the center with a thin wire attached between them. This thin wire is called filament.
- One of the thick wires is connected to the metal case at the base of the bulb and the other is connected to the metal tip at the center of the base. These two form the terminals.
- When electricity is passed through the terminals of the bulb, the filament gets heated up and produces light.
- A bulb is said to be fused if the filament gets broken. Fused bulb doesn’t glow.
- The two terminals do not directly touch each other to avoid short circuit.

The female silk moth lays eggs. The larvae also known as caterpillar or silkworm hatches out from the egg and grows in size. As soon as the caterpillar gets ready to develop into pupa, it first weaves a net to hold itself and swings its head from side to side.
During these movements the caterpillar secretes fibre made of a protein that hardens on exposure to air and becomes silk fibre. The caterpillar soon covers itself completely by a covering of silk fibres known as cocoon. The further development of the moth continues inside the cocoon. Silk fibres are used for weaving silk cloth.

Winnowing is the process of separating wheat or rice grains from the husk. Wheat grains and husk are different in weight, husk being lighter than wheat. When the mixture is allowed to fall down from a height the wind carries the lighter husk with it and the heavy wheat grains fall vertically down on the ground.

Dietary fiber or roughage is the indigestible portion of food derived from plants. It has two main components:
- Soluble fiber, which dissolves in water, is readily fermented in the colon into gases and physiologically active byproducts, and can be prebiotic and viscous. This delays gastric emptying which, in humans, can result in an extended feeling of fullness.
- Insoluble fiber, which does not dissolve in water, is metabolically inert and provides bulking, or it can be fermented in the large intestine. Bulking fibers absorb water as they move through the digestive system, easing defecation.
