How will you separate sand and water from their mixture?
Answer:
We will separate sand and water by using sedimentation and decantation method. First we have to leave this mixture for some time. After some time, the sand which is heavier settles down at the bottom. After that, we pour the water into another container and the mixture will be separated.

- Respiration releases energy from food. The oxygen that we inhale breaks down glucose into carbon dioxide and water. This releases the energy.
- Humans and animals use lung as the respiratory organ. Earthworm breathes through its skin and fish uses its gills. Plants use their leaves and roots to take in air.

Test for protein:
- Take 2 ml of the given food-stuff solution in a test tube.
- Add a little of dilute sodium hydroxide solution till the mixture clears.
- Then add 2 to 3 drops of copper sulphate solution and shake well.
- If a violet colour appears in the solution, then protein is present in the given food-stuff.Note: If the food item to be tested is in solid form, then a powder or a paste is made by grinding it and adding few drops of water in a test tube. Afterwards, the test tube is made to shake well to form a solution or suspension. Hence, dilute sodium hydroxide solution and copper sulphate solution are used to test proteins in the food stuff.

Yes. Spreading uniform near anghiti or heater will help in drying because near anghiti or heater the temperature is much higher and hence the process of evaporation of water is faster. This will lead to a quick drying of uniform.
