The Tehri Dam is the highest dam in India and one of the highest in the world. It is a multi-purpose rock and earth-fill embankment dam on the Bhagirathi River near Tehri in Uttarakhand, India. Kallanai Dam / Grand Anicut, India is the first dam.
The dam was constructed by King Karikala Chola of the Chola Dynasty in the 2nd century AD. The dam is located on the River Kaveri, approximately 20km from the city of Tiruchirapalli.

Reita Faria
Born in Mumbai in 1943, Reita Faria is the first Indian woman to win the Miss World beauty pageant in 1966. During the contest, Reita was also honoured with the titles - Best in Swimsuit and Best in Eveningwear as she dazzled in a saree. Reita, in fact, received several film offers after winning the pageant but she chose to focus on her medical studies. After receiving her MBBS Degree in Mumbai, she moved to London to complete her education from the King's College Hospital. Reita Faria lives in Dublin with her husband David Powell.
