The Chief Operating Officer is in charge of the day-to-day administration and operation of the business. The COO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is considered his right hand. In some corporations, the COO is also known as the Executive Vice President of Operations. He is one of the highest-ranking executive positions in an organization, comprising part of the "C-suite". The COO is usually the second-in-command at the firm, especially if the highest-ranking executive is the chairman and CEO.
