Limitations of J.J Thomson's model of an atom: Thomson’s model failed to explain the results of the alpha particle scattering experiment that was given by Rutherford. One of the major drawbacks of his model is that there were no experimental pieces of evidence provided by him. He failed to explain the stability of atoms.
