पादपों अथवा जंतुओं में पदार्थों का परिवहन आवश्यक है क्योंकि पादप और जंतुओं के शरीर के सभी भागों को ऊर्जा की आवश्यकता होती है । यह ऊर्जा भोजन से प्राप्त होती है । शरीर के सभी भागों तक जल , ऑक्सीजन और भोजन पहुंचाना आवश्यक है और वहां उत्पन्न हुए अपशिष्ट पदार्थ को दूर करने की भी जरूरत है। इसलिए परिसंचरण बहुत लाभकारी है।
