(b) Leydig cells. (Leydig cells or interstitial cells are specialized cells that are found in the interstitial spaces between the many seminiferous tubules in the testes. When the male individual approaches puberty, the hypothalamus directs the production and release of the Luteinizing hormone in their bodies which through the bloodstream are sent into testes. These cells interact with Leydig cells and aid the production of androgens.)
