The mitochondria is generally known as the power house of the cell. It is a semi-autonomous organelle which have their own DNA and ribosomes therefore it can synthesize some proteins on their own. It synthesize ATP(Adinoscene triphisphate) which is also known as the energy currency of the cell. It is a double membrane bound cell oraganelle in which external membrane is porous and the internal membrane is deeply folded which increase the surface for ATP production.
