The poem revolves around the theme of Male chauvinism and gender conflicts. These poem brings out the evils of the patriarchal form of society. Aunt Jennifer is a victim who suffers oppression and subjugation by her husband even during his absence. SHE'S never able to liberate herself from this domination in the name of custom,law and the constraints of her family life.she creates for herself an alternate world of freedom which she yearns for but can live only in her imagination created through her art
