No of moles (C) = 40/12 = 3.33 . No of moles (H) = 6.7/1 = 6.7 . No of moles (O) = 53.3/16 = 3.33. Therefore, Ratio = C:H:O = 1:2:1. Empirical formula = CH2O. Mass of Empirical formula = 12 + 2 + 16 = 30 g. // N = 175/30 = 6 (approx). Therefore, molecular formula is C6H12O6.
