    Mr Hamel was emotional on that day because it was his last lesson and after that he will no more taught French in school. He overwhelmed with sadness after remembering his past actions that he did. He thought about how he postponed class when he went to fishing and how he gave student to gardening and also about his parents how they send them on to work apart from studies. He was really very worried about the native that they even don't know his own language, how could they imprison themselves? All these thoughts make him emotional.
