A number system is a set of values used to represent different quantities , such as a number of students in class , etc. There are four number systems : 1. Decimal number system = it consists of 10 digits . Most of our arithmetic operations are performed with decimal numbers. 2. Binary number system = it consists of 2 digits ( 0 and 1 ) . Computers use this number system . 3. Octal number system = it consists of 8 digits ( 0 to 7 ) . 4. Hexadecimal number system = it consists of 16 digits ( 0 -9 and letters A to F ) .
