a.m.u is atomic mass unit. amu is a mass of 1/12th of mass of carbon atom. a.m.u is used for calculation ? at atomic level.
1 amu = 1/12 mass of Carbon atom = mass of 1 hydrogen atom
1 a.m.u = 1.6605 x 10-24 gms
Note: a.m.u is just another unit to measure very small masses at atomic level or mass of atoms
Measuring mass of atoms in grams is actually tiresome & amu actually makes calculation ? simpler
