Parasites are organisms that depend upon another organism (host) for food and cause harmful effects or dieseases to the host. Examples: Cuscuta (Amarbel), mosquitoes and head lice. Saprotrophs are the non green plants which obtain their food or nutrition from dead and decaying organic matter. Examples:- fungi

Parasites are organisms that live in or on other living organisms and derive their food from them. The plant from which a parasite gets its food is called a host. Example- mistletoe plant. Whereas saprotrophs are organisms that live on dead plants and animals and derive their food from them. Example- mushrooms
