The village people were sitting at the back benches in classroom to tribute their language and thanking M.Hamel for his 40 years as it was the last lesson of French in the schools of Alsace and Lorraine .

The villagers were sitting at the last benches.It was their way of thanking our master for fourty years of faithful service showing their respect for the country that was their is no more because German had taken over their country and express their regret for not having attend the regular class.They too felt sorry that they had not been to school ??????.
