The transportation of Oxygen from the lungs to other body parts takes place through our blood vessels. Oxygen has low water solubillity and therefore cannot be transported directly in plasma. The red blood cells contain a pigment called Haemoglobin with which the Oxygen molecules stick once they are absorbed through our lungs. These red blood cells carry the oxygen to the oxygen-deficient parts and then release it to be used for respiration.
