Visit to Sanchi Stupa
Anita,
Kendriya Vidyalaya, March 10, 2017
A trip was organised by the History society of our school to one of the most well-known historical place, Sanchi Stupa, on March 08, 2017. The trip included a group of twenty students taken to the place by the school bus. We were also accompanied by the historian, Mr. Akash Verma, who made us familiar with the historical presence of the monument. Sanchi Stupa is an important place for Biddhist pilgrims. Stated to be the world heritage site, its nucleus is a simple hemispherical brick structure built over the relics of the Buddha. Sanchi Stupas are noteworthy for their gateways as they contain ornamented depiction of incidents from the life of Buddha and his previous incarnations as Bodhisattvas described in Jataka tales. It is one of the most wonderful structures of ancient India. It has been included by the UNESCO as one of the heritage site of the sworld. It is a fine example of the development of the Buddhist architecture. After the visit, a lunch was organised for the students in a restaurant named 'Fine Dine' situated near the monument. The bus returned to the school at around 6:00 PM. The trip was the amalgamation of knowledge and fun.
