सांख्यिकी (Statistics) शब्द का प्रयोग दो अर्थों में किया जाता है-(i) एकवचन में तथा (ii) बहुवचन में। एकवचन में सांख्यिकी का आशय सांख्यिकी विज्ञान से लगाया जाता है जबकि बहुवचन से इसका आशय समंकों से लगाया जाता है। सांख्यिकी वह विज्ञान है जो किसी विषय पर प्रकाश डालने के उद्देश्य से संग्रह किये गए आँकड़ों के संग्रहण, वर्गीकरण, प्रस्तुतीकरण, तुलना तथा निर्वचन की रीतियों से सम्बन्धित है।
