5x+74x−2=3x+84x−5 Step 1: Simplify both sides of the equation. 5x+74x−2=3x+84x−5 5x+74x+−2=3x+2x+−5 (5x+74x)+(−2)=(3x+2x)+(−5)(Combine Like Terms) 274x+−2=5x+−5 274x−2=5x−5 Step 2: Subtract 5x from both sides. 274x−2−5x=5x−5−5x 74x−2=−5 Step 3: Add 2 to both sides. 74x−2+2=−5+2 74x=−3 Step 4: Multiply both sides by 4/7. (47)*(74x)=(47)*(−3) x=−127 Answer: x=−127
