(3x + y)+(-4)i=(5)+(2x-3y)i Comparing real and imaginary parts,we have •3x+y=5------{a} •2x-3y=-4-------{b} Now, {a}=> y=5-3x {b}=> 2x-3(5-3x)=-4 => 2x-15+9x=-4 => 11x=-4+15=11 => x=1 Therefore, y=5-3x=5-(3×1)=2. Solution, x=1,y=2.
