There are 366 days in a leap year. A year usually has 365 days. The extra day is needed to keep the calendar "in synch" with the Earth's orbit around the Sun. The Earth takes about 365 and a quarter days to orbit the Sun once. The extra 6hours is not included in each year. Thus leap year comes once in every four years including an extra day(24 hours) that is 29th February including the extra 6hours from each 4 revolution time periods.
