The story 'Weathering the Storm in Ersama', is a real life account of the aftermath of the cyclone. ... His efforts and determination helped the survivors of the cyclone gather the bits of their lives together. He was strong enough to bear all the hardships and eventually became a lifeline for the people of his village. The theme of leadership by this young man is praised in this story. The message in this poem is conveyed that the community members should help themselves when the calamity strikes. In order to get the aid, they should not be completely dependent upon the government.
