(x-5)/3 = (x-3)/5 5( x-5) = 3 ( x - 3) 5x - 5(5) = 3x - 3(3) 5x - 25 = 3x - 9 5x - 3x = -9 + 25 2x = 16 x = 16/2 = 8

(x-5)/3 = (x-3)/5

5( x-5) = 3 ( x - 3)

5x - 5(5) = 3x - 3(3)

5x - 25 = 3x - 9

5x - 3x = -9 + 25

2x = 16

x = 16/2 = 8
