A n s w e r :

To Factorise : m2 + 3m − 4

By splitting the middle term

= m2 − 4m − m − 4

= m (m + 4) −1(m + 4)

= (m−1) (m+4)

So, m2 + 3m − 4 = (m−1) (m+4)
