Chlorophyll is a green pigment that gives most plants their colour. The reasons that it is green iis because it absorbs other colors of light such as red and blue, so in a way the green light is reflected out since the pigment does not absorb it. Algae have large amount of chlorophyll content in them which makes them look green. They grow well in summer as they require lot of sunlight to perform photosynthesis.
