Sorter's Disease is another name for Anthrax. It is caused by the bacteria Bacillus anthracis. Historically, anthrax was called wool sorter's disease because individuals who sorted wool of infected animals contracted the disease.
Symptoms of Anthrax (Woolsorters' Disease, Ragpickers' Disease)
- Cutaneous anthrax: Painless papule, blister, or ulcer after contact with infected material. ...
- Inhalation anthrax: Fever, cough, and shortness of breath – similar to an atypical pneumonia.
