why DNA both strands are antiparallel
  • 1 answers

Vikas Shukla 5 years, 2 months ago

DNA with antiparallel strands is more stable than one with parallel strands because interior of DNA has to be hydrophobic which is contributed by nitrogenous bases and exterior of DNA is hydrophillic which is contributed by phosphate groups . Moreover the hydrogen bonding between specific N-bases is also important, resulting in DNA with antiparallel strands.
