What is the relationship between earthquake and volcanoes
  • 1 answers

Meghna Thapar 4 years ago

Most earthquakes directly beneath a volcano are caused by the movement of magma. The magma exerts pressure on the rocks until it cracks the rock. Then the magma squirts into the crack and starts building pressure again. Every time the rock cracks it makes a small earthquake. Earthquakes are not a geological structure like volcanoes and they do not release magma. They are violent movements of the Earth's crust. However, unlike volcanoes, earthquakes are common to all types of plate boundary. Earthquakes occur as a result of friction and build up of pressure between plates.
