Prime factorization is defined as a way of finding the prime factors of a number i.e. the prime numbers which can be multiplied together to get the original number. For example, the prime factors of 126 will be 2, 3 and 7 as 2 × 3 × 3 × 7 = 126 and 2, 3, 7 are prime numbers.

For example, Prime factorization of;

  • 12 is 2 x 2 x 3 = 22 x 3
  • 18 is 2 x 3 x 3 = 2 x 32
  • 24 is 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 = 23 x 3
  • 20 is 2 x 2 x 5 = 22 x 5
