Solve each of the following equations and also verify your solution:
x/2 + x/3 + x/4 = 13
Solution:
We have,
x/2 + x/3 + x/4 = 13
let us take LCM for 2, 3 and 4 which is 12
(x×6)/12 + (x×4)/12 + (x×3)/12 = 13
6x/12 + 4x/12 + 3x/12 = 13
(6x+4x+3x)/12 = 13
13x/12 = 13
By using cross-multiplication we get,
13x = 12×13
x = 156/13
= 12
∴ x = 12
