During those times the people did believe a lot in discrimination on various basis may it be caste, economic status or any other thing. Gandhi g dressed like a poor peasant and even went to Rajendra Prasad ' s house in that attire that too with a farmer. The servants in the house thought him to be a poor peasant and did not allow him to take water from the well as according to them the water would get polluted even if a single drop falls into the well that had come in contact with gandhi g. So he was a victim of severe discrimination at Rajendra ' s place.
