verbs the difference between consecrate and anoint  is that consecrate is to declare, or otherwise make something holy while anoint is (label) to smear or rub over with oil or an unctuous substance; also, to spread over, as oil. As an adjective consecrate  is consecrated; devoted; dedicated; sacred.
