Pitcher plant has partial heterotrophic mode of nutrition. It performs photosynthesis. To meet its nitrogenous requirement it feeds on insects since pitcher plant grows in nitrogen deficient soil.
In a pitcher plant, the leaf is modified to form a pitcher like structure. The pitcher has a lid which gets closed when a insects sits on it. In this way, the insect gets trapped in the pitcher. The insect is then digested by various enzymatic secretions.
