After the French Revolution, France became a republic. Political instability of the Directory paved the way for the rise of military dictator Napoleon Bonaparte. He is often called as the ‘Child of the French Revolution’. Napoleon Bonaparte ruled France from 1804 to 1814 and for a small period in 1815. As the dictator of France, Napoleon was able to institute a number of government reforms. One of these reforms was the famous Napoleonic Code.
