That physical quantity is called speed (when no direction is given) and when it has a direction it's called velocity.
In other terms speed and velocity both are kinematic quantities that refer to the displacement of a body made.
When an object covers distance it is called speed and when the speed is observed going towards a particular direction it is referred to as velocity.
